Yes, this blog is my personal brand. Just look at the URL. The problem. Let’s say I want to get out of the Search Engine Optimization and Web Design business in a couple of years. I find a suitable buyer for my company (err.. petermoorman.com). That’s right, in order to make any money off of selling my company, I have to sell my name to a corporate bureaucrat. Now my personal brand and online reputation is in the hands of the highest bidder to do whatever he pleases with it.
Unless you plan on selling beauty products door to door for the rest of your life (Mary Kay), create a separate corporate brand and use your personal brand as a platform to blog.
